Here is a presentation of each of my sites. I hope this gives you a feel on what made me start them, what they are and what my plans are for them.
What began it all?
It all started when I just out of curiosity wanted to make a website, mostly an archive to have my fanfics in. Back then the site was called "Buffy & Angel 4-ever" and was a page-builder site. And allready 3 months old it met it's first crisis, which resulted in a remake of the site in html, a lot of content was lost, which is why I concider the site's birthday to be in July and not February/March.
What's the site about?
It's devoted to my 3 favourite pairings within the Buffy and Angel universe, Buffy/Angel, Dawn/Spike, Fred/Wesley, as well as my favourite Firefly pairing, Simon/Kaylee. It's also a tribute to the shows and actors in general as well. The site excells very much in multimedia and games, as well as sporting a pretty good fanfiction archive and gallery. I run the site, with my own personal interesst in mind. So it's not set to be an all around service site as many of the main big sites out there, but I like to think of it to have the size and diversity to compete with a few of them.
What are the plans for the future?
I want to continue updating and adding to the site. I am really into making fanvideos and various artistic things. And the longer I stay in the school I'm in I suspect I might soon make more interessting games as well. I want to continue to bring information and funny quirks about my favourite people and pairings as well as share whatever future meetages I have. There's still so much to do, so much to add, that I can't see this site stop growing. And should I for some weird reason stop to update, I can't ever see myself closing it. This site is my baby, I've been nursing it for over 4 years and to just delete it one day seems like such a waste. And being a woman of my word I can promise you that no matter what I will never close the site.
What began it all?
It all started with a frienfly competition between actors on the set of Firefly. I got obsessed with it after seeing a demonstration of it at a convention in May, 2004, but it was after learning about so many other flips that the idea of making a site out of it came to mind.
What's the site about?
Allready a week old it was named one of the most original Firefly fansites out there, which I of course take as a big compliment. It's a score keeping site for the ongoing flipping competition between Nathan Fillion and Jewel Staite. I list up all the flips that to my knowledge has taken place as well as whatever pictures I can get my hands on. All with credits to whoever sends them my way. And then I have sections comparing the flips, giving out points for creativity, quantity, as well as listing favourites.
What are the plans for the future?
Well the future of the site really depends on Jewel and Nathan. I can only do so much with the info I have. I hope to maybe come up with some more ideas, maybe get some more fan interaction on it. And then it's just trying to find out about flips I lack, new or old. I hope this competition continues for a long time.
What began it all?
I honestly just wanted to start my own award site and I figured since I loved reading fanfiction, I wanted to have a site devoted just to awarding fanfiction. Also I wanted a site that didn't discriminate any writer, hence I accept all pairings and ratings. At first I got no nominees, but then I faced myself with going for a make-over or a closing and I chose make-over and after that traffic started picking up and now the rounds seems to be running pretty smoothly.
What's the site about?
I accept any pairing, any rating within the Buffy and Angel universe, authors can only submitt one fic per category per round and each fic for only one category, once a fanfic has participated it will be archived and can no longer participate again, however the author can continue submitting new fanfics, even to categories they've won for allready, as it's not about the authors here, it's about each individual piece of fiction.
What are the plans for the future?
I just want to continue doing the round, I still enjoy reading new fics and even though the coding can sometimes be gruelling work, the rounds themselves makes up for it, so I can promise you that as long as you keep sending me submissions I will keep the competition alive and when the submissions stop coming in, the site will remain as an archive.
What began it all?
When I went on a holiday to Portugal the summer of 2002, I was re-reading the Harry Potter books and getting to the 4th book there was a tiny passage referring to a character "Mr. Summers", which gave me the idea to make a crossover universe between Buffy and Harry Potter. I spent the next two weeks writing notes on empty magazine pages and the minute I got home I started on what's so far the longest fanfiction series I've written so far. Wanting to give people more insight in what I believe the universe to look like, I wanted to make a site expansion and this site, which even today still sports the original layout, was made.
What's the site about?
It's an archive for the fiction within the universe as well as featuring other aspects about this particular crossover universe. I have many plans for it, which I hope I one day may fulfill.
What are the plans for the future?
I want to continue writing on the series as well as continue making illustrations for it. I want to make all the things on the "coming soon" list, and I just want to make a vivid crossover universe for people to enjoy.
What began it all?
My highschool's big norwegian assignment was to find a subject within the norwegian culture or litterature to write about, I chose my very good friend, Ingar Knudtsen's bookseries about amazons. I had allready done a paper in jr high about the same subject, though back then it had only been like a bookreview with some information about the author, as well as only featuring the first 3 books, which were the only ones out back then, but this time not only had he a 4th book out, but a 5th was on its way, which if I wanted to, I could have gotten a copy of the manuscript of. Also this time I decided to go deeper into the layers of the books as well as ponbdering the question what would have happened to the world if the amazon culture had survived.
What's the site about?
It's the full in depth paper on the subject, though still only written in norwegian, but I plan on making an english translation one of these days. It's illustrated with my own drawings of the characters.
What are the plans for the future?
I hope to get the english translation done and posted, as well as I hope to one day manage to get the books themselves translated into english, so that more people can get to enjoy them.
What began it all?
Two things actually, one was the Norwegian BrownCoats forum, which was made by Sandra. And then my friends Tan and Inge who got permission from UIP to make and run the Belgium Firefly/Serenity fanclub and official site. This gave me the idea that since we were sorely lacking something like that in Norway that I could to, so I contacted Sandra and proposed a co-operation, which she accepted.
What's the site about?
It's the Norwegian Firefly/Serenity Fanclub. It's all in Norwegian for Norwegian fans. We have our own fanzine, membership cards as well as competitions where we give out official merchandise as prizes.
What are the plans for the future?
Simply get more members, get hold of news quickly as well as add more information. Maybe see if we can get some sponsoring to make us able to get bigger and better prizes for the competitions.
