At the moment I have total of 13 subdomains that I'm not using, that I could host a site on. But I won't just host any site, so here's a little about what I look for in a site.
- Eagerness:
I want to see that this is a webmaster that really wants to do what he or she is doing, where it's a passion.
- Reasons:
The webmaster must need to be hosted. Valid reasons could be that they are stuck at a freeserver that clogs their site with adds, that they are hosted at a site that's closing down. Whatever reason you have for being hosted be honest with me, I've been there and know what it feels like.
- Good subject:
I wanna see a site worth saving, aka a site about something interessting, I want to see some content, I'm not hosting a site beginning from scratch, you have to be a really good friend before that happens.
- Involvement:
I want to have good contact with my hostees, this means I'd like a mail now and then about how your site is going, if you have any major projects planned and so on. To contact me now and then on MSN or YM is perfectly allright, but I want you to keep in touch with me.
- Honesty:
I have no problems with hosting sites that carry bigger files, such as videos and music, but I want to be told upfront when you add something of a larger size, like say a music video, and as the person who's paying for the hosting I feel I have a right to it. If you don't let me know I have other ways of finding out and I might not be so happy about finding out that way, I will know your username and password and if you add a ton of large files without checking with me first I might be forced to remove them.
- Knowledge:
I do not offer any pagebulder option so you will have to know html or php to be hosted here. And if you are a truly dedicated webmaster you will allready know this. FTP is also a must as it's the only way you will be able to access and update your sites. If you aren't completely familliar with FTP, don't worry, just check out my FTP tutorial and then return here. If you don't understand it after reading the tutorial, then you might reconcider hosting.
- Link:
Being hosted here, you will have to post a link back to the domain. If you have an indexpage, it's a requirement to post the link there. It doesn't need to be more than a textlink, but it has to be viewable.
- Activity:
You have to update in a nice frequency, if not I'm sure there are plenty of sites out there that would like your spot. Let me know when you go on holiday or have exams and such, I'm not a monster, I know all about not finding the time. AS long as it's a valid reason I'm off your case.
- Last pointers
Should you violate any of the rules, I will send you a warning right away, if the problem hasn't been corrected within a week, you will get a second warning. If you get to the third warning and still does nothing after it, your site will be removed.
