Here's an introduction to the sites that I host, as well as the reason for why I decided to host them in the first place.
What's the site about?
It's a fansite for the biathlon athletes Liv Grete and Raphael Poiree. It contains information on various world cups, the background story for each of the athletes as well as their love-story. It also has quizzes, articles translated to english and even a section about when the webmaster herself got to meet the Poirees.
Who runs it?
The site was made and is run by Iselin, my ex-girlfriend and still a very good friend of mine. She's a very dedicated fan of biathlon as well as webmaster. I blieve she will continue to do great for a long time ahead.
Why did I choose host it?
I know most people just assume it's because she was my girlfriend and on some of it, you're right, but I also recognized a lot of the eagerness with the site that I had when I started out as well, plus with every year geocities has gotten worse and worse with adds, plus with php you need to have a server that offers it, something my hosting plan does.
What's the site about?
It's a fansite for BtVS/Ats with a twist, it tries to stay away from the usual fansite-ness and focus on originality.
Who runs it?
The site is run by Chantelle.
Why did I choose host it?
Chantelle contacted me through the form, telling me about not having a place to put her site. She complied to my request to see some samples of what to expect and I liked what I saw, hence I said yes to hosting her.
What's the site about?
The site has a connection to a mailinglist called the OWB, which stands for "Obsessed with Buffy". I joined this group right after it was founded in early 2002 and I've gotten really close with the members there. Being such a tight group we expanded to both our own discussion group as well as a paper called the "OWB daily". And then the idea of making a yearbook for ourselves spurred and we decided we wanted to do that, so that later on we can look back on it and just have a little trip down memory lane. Each regular member has its own section and we plan on making more additional stuff as well.
Who runs it?
It's run by the volunteering members of the OWB, so far it being Elise, Ortal and myself.
Why did I choose host it?
Geocities sucks and I want the site to be as good as possible, the group means a lot to me, I've gotten friends for life there so I just wanted to host it to get ridd of the adds and to make it possible for us to do whatever we want :)
