THE FURRY AWARD:
The category name was chosen in assosiation to Oz the werewolf. He and Willow must be one of the cutest couples made on the show, they had their own way of speaking, they're own little language and when I'm to assosiate anything to fluff they are the first thing that pops into my mind. Fluffy fics are light on emotion, they are cute. Relaxing... don't get me wrong, stuff can happen, boring is bad, but it has to be sweet and gentle, able to relax even the most stressed

THE GIFT AWARD:
The name is easy to explain. the gift is THE angstiest episode ever made if you ask me. Full of emotion, strong ones, real tear-jerker. This is the angst award not to be taken lightly. You don't HAVE to make me cry to make good angst, but make me have my heart up in my throat isn't bad. Not to be recomended for people who's allready had a bad day

THE GRIN AWARD:
I don't really think I have to explain this award. What makes you grin? Humor. though making me grin isn't always enough to cut it, having me roll on the floor with laughter however. These are fics for prety much all occations. It will set not only a smile on your mouth, but make you shake with laughter, when done properly of course
|
THE GALWAY AWARD:
I chose this name as it's the name of Angel's home town. We have gotten to know about him through flashbacks, many of them from Galway and therefor it's a fitting name for the category about the past. You don't nessesarily go that much into the past, but half a year before Bufy arrived in Sunnydale is NOT a past fic in my eyes. You can of course combine past and present, but the story has to be about and most of it be IN the past

|
THE IWRY AWARD:
Reason I chose this name was that the episode "I will remember you" (= I.W.R.Y) was the first episode to introduce a possible future for Buffy and Angel, even though it was only about one day and then things returned to normal. Now many would say "Chosen" is a more fitting name as it repressents their vision about the future more than IWRY, but as most future fics in B/A style takes place in IWRY and onwards I will continue using the name. It can be really far or near future, but at least 4-5 years into it.
|
THE REDEMPTION AWARD:
I decided on this name because Angel's struggle for redemption has been prophesized to be about him turning human, his gift. and the category is for someone receiving this form of redemption. It can be Angel or Spike turning human, Oz loosing his wolf-part, anything else will have to be checked through me. It's not for human characters reforming from evil to good.

|
THE KEY AWARD:
Dawn being the key was a mystery introduced on the show and the category is for fics about mysteries, ancient or non-ancient. Most often it's a quest for answers about things we do not get right away. Kind of like the fifth season was. Preferably this should be adventurous.
|
THE BOT AWARD:
I think the name is kind of obvious. Who can forget Spike's sex-bot? This category is for all horn-dogs (no offence). It's for exploring the characters sexuality either if it's sweet or hard on. Everyone have their preferences. Not a categories for kids. But I think kids figure that with all the warning labels all over the net. If kids read this, I'm not responsible, because I warned you!

|
THE COMA AWARD:
I took this name from a Cordelia-quote "How many times have you been knocked out anyway? I swear one day you're gonna wake up in a coma". Poor Giles have been knocked out many times. This category is about the fight, the action. If I can sit through this fic with no excitement, you've failed. It's important to not avoid the fights, the actual action in the fics submitted to this category.
|
THE FAMILY AWARD:
Name's obvious. It's about family, either through reproduction or through adoption. Sure you can send in pregnancy fics here, but preferably I want parts of the fics with the baby born, not just spend all time in the womb. even better are those where the kids actually get to go through toddler and maybe start school or go even further.

|
THE MIX-UP AWARD:
Mix-up is simply a mix-up between reality and the show. It's hard to say what's accepted and what's not. I've read several fics where they put themselves into the story or they switch characters with actors and so on. You have to decide for yourself what you think is a good mix-up. Sometimes you can surprise me with things I haven't even thought of.
|
THE HERO AWARD:
As "Hero" was the inspiration to this site's name and concept I decided that it was a suitable name for this award. "Hero" connects you to this site, which means your inspiration comes from here, aka the challenge. I used to have selective challenges, but no more. It only confuses the visitors. I put up a challenge for you to write if you want to and once this award have been judged I replace the old challenge with a new one. So how often you get a challenge is entirely up to how many of you are willing to write the challenge.
