![]() For those that ends up being my hostees, they will have to get to know FTP. I strongly recommend to use the FTP client called WS_FTP, which is the one I use and is also the easiest of the ones I've tried out. The program should be available at Download.com, or be easily found through a search monitor, but should you have difficulty obtaining it, contact me on MSN, and I'll send the install file to you. When becoming a hostee there are 3 pieces of information you need to know in order to use WS_FTP to upload your files:
Ex. Lets say your site is: "Banana forever"
You open WS_FTP and you see something simillar to the picture above. You want to type in your info to enter your site. (if you do this at a public computer, please do not mark the "Save password" option). The red fields are the only ones you need to worry about with filling in information. At Host Name/Adress: you type in the URL, in the example picture, I've written in hostee, change this to the URL I've given you.
Ex. For the person with the site "Banana forever" the host is: User ID: should be pretty self-explanitory. You just write in the user ID, I've given you. In the picture that is hostee. Ex. For the example person, the user Id is apple Password: is also a self-explanitory thing. You type in the password, I've given you, make sure you type correctly, because you will only see stars popping up, just like in any other programs where one uses passwords. Ex. For the example person, the password is yellow After the information is filled out, you click OK
When you log in, you will see a window with 3 options, double-click on the folder with your URL as name.
When transferring files you mark the files you want to transfer and click the arrow marked, if you want to transfer some files the other way, you mark the files in the opposite window and click the other arrow. When you upload a folder the first time, just mark it and transfer, if you are to later on update one or two files within the existing folder, first double-click on said folder in both windows and then mark the files you want to transfer. To go back to a folder below, double-click on the arrow in the top of the window.
If you still don't understand what I mean, then it's very likely you won't be among my hostees.
